What is an EPP code?
The transfer code that proves you own a domain, and how to get it.
An EPP code (also called an auth code, authorisation code or transfer key) is a password for a domain. The registrar that receives a transfer asks for it to confirm the domain's owner agreed to the move.
Getting the code for a domain registered with us
- Sign in and open Domains, then Manage next to the domain.
- If Transfer lock is on, choose Unlock domain.
- Choose Get transfer code.
Some registries don't show the code on screen and email it to the domain's registered contact instead. If that happens you'll see a message saying so.
Remember to lock the domain again if you decide not to transfer it.
Getting the code from another registrar
Look for "transfer", "auth code" or "EPP" in your registrar's domain settings, or ask their support team. Then start the transfer.
